My friend's birthday is coming up and she's expressed an interest in picking up reading however she doesn't really read. Whenever she has in the past, she's enjoyed books about women in the Middle East or who have immigrated to the UK or USA. She also enjoys crime and thriller TV shows. Does anyone have any recs? Preferably quite fast paced. Thank you!

I read Jack Carr’s The Terminal List and felt it was a rather quick read without skipping over anything. I have heard Lee Childs’ The Killing Floor is another great one (both are military thrillers if that’s her thing too).
