hello everyone i hope you are all doing good im trying to do some christmas shopping early. i have a very good friend who has a lot of childhood trauma particularly with the mother figure, both parents in general really but if i can find a book that could focus on more a mother daughter relationship that would be a big help. im not trying to heal her or anything but she is interested in reading literature about this topic so i would love to introduce her to the art of the written word. for some context she’s hispanic, only speaking spanish, and from a very repressed background in all aspects she had to flee her hometown very young due to prejudice since she became a mother herself very quickly. anything that talks more about the complexities of mother daughter or just in general childhood wounds even a memoir i would check out since i am also gifting her some poetry books with work from alejandra pizarnik and idea vilariño. anything suggested would be greatly appreciated, bonus points if they can relate to the hispanic experience, thank you a million.

The joy luck club is a very good book regarding mothers and daughters. Just read Those who save us, has mother daughter misunderstanding that is resolved through empathy and understanding.
