The last few books I’ve read I’ve bought off of the banned book shelves of book stores, and I’ve realized banned books are never a bad time. When I google the list I find that I’ve loved nearly every book I’ve read on it, most of which I read for English classes in middle/high school ironically. I read 1984 and A Clockwork Orange last month but I want to keep it up with sci-fi/horror banned books.

Dystopian futures, toxic family/friendship dynamics, cursed places, gross/shocking horror and queer stuff is a big plus for me. Not really into vampires, things that lean towards fantasy, and anything over 600 pages. Anything with a good twist I don’t see coming is an immediate 5 stars for me.

    1. I was absolutely blown away by Gender Queer, written by Maia Kobabe. A perspective that I was touched by.

    2. The Handmaid’s Tale is a great book, I really like the ending and how simple of a story it is. The show doesn’t feel that way.

Not banned but censored – ‘README.txt’ by Chelsea Manning was so interesting to read
