Hey ! First post here, so hopefully i follow all rules.

I am specifically looking for novels which were written in the interwar period. In principle anything goes so long as the book was published in the 1920s and gives insight into how people saw the world back then.

For those curious, i am seeking out these books as research for a novel of mine set in this period. Of specific importance are novels which touch on the zeitgeist. For instance, early SciFi was naturally very different from the The Expanse or Project Hail Mary´s we have to day. I already have some books on my list, a couple were written before WW1 but i think are still relevant.

    • The Counterfeiters (André Gide, 1925)
    • From the Earth to the Moon (Jules Verne, 1874)
    • The Iron Heel (Jack London, 1907)
    • With the Night Mail (Rudyard Kipling, 1909)
    • Under the Moons of Mars (Edgar Rice Burroughs, 1909)
    • Thérèse Desqueyroux (François Mauriac, 1927)
    • The Red One (Jack London, 1918)

As you can see, it is not too impressive yet.

The country of origin dosnt matter too much. Italy, France, Germany, Britain and the USA should all be represented.

Plot wise, romance, travel, politics, military and futurism are all ok.

There is a lot to be learned from modern retrospectives as well. And there are plenty of books diving into the rise of fascism in Italy and Germany or the political garbage fire of French politics. But at least for now, i want to focus on novels from the time.

Thank you very much for reading and giving suggestions !
