My mother has cancer and is spinning out as she waits for her oncologist appointment. Would like to give her some books to keep her mind busy and in a good place. She requested books but they didn’t seem right for the moment (I.e., Nobody’s Girl by Virginia Giuffre).
She mainly reads fiction and memoirs. Shes in her late 60’s. Not looking for a comedy but something uplifting or with some humour sprinkled in.

Fried Green Tomatoes at the Whistle Stop Cafe maybe? Or another Fanny Flagg novel. They hit that vibe of comforting, funny, and nostalgic which might be just the thing. Or maybe Wishin’ and Hopin’ by Wally Lamb, considering we’re heading towards the holidays.
Erma Bombeck has many books of funny, slice of life, heartwarming essays…
All very old school but i think still hold up..
Won’t require too much concentration so perfect for time in waiting rooms…
