Doesn't have to be about China, although I like Asia the most, but I am looking for books that allow up-close glimpses into parts of the world and/or history from a female perspective, written almost like a biography, but instead of sweeping heroics, concern minute details, vivid descriptions and most of all relationships with others.
I don't mind how new or old they are and am not sensitive to most topics, although too many gory descriptions might be skipped.
If available as Audiobook, I would be even more grateful.
