Hey y'all,
I'm an older teen girl who is desperately in need of a good book to read. I visited my local library several times in the past 3-4 months to browse the shelves for a new book and I often struggle to find something that interests me. I feel like most new books that I see on the shelves are repetitive and superficial. Am I the only one who feels like the literary market (in particular the YA market) has become really oversaturated and compromising quality for digestibility nowadays?
I've entered a bit of a reading slump; I haven't read a good book in a while. I'd love it if anyone could provide some recommendations.
My favorite genres are fantasy (mostly young adult), romance, and some classics. I love books that are emotionally moving and have complexity, and that explore deep, meaningful themes, with lush, vivid, quality writing that is also forward-moving and juicy. The way that I know I've read a good book is when I feel like I just got hit by a freight train during/after reading it; I loved to be moved by a book, whether that is with pain, inspiration, an obsessive love for it, or all of the above, or something else entirely. Bonus points if it contains a nice serving of dark (see my list below, lol). Though I like seriousness (again, as you can tell by my list), I always love humor and fun moments as well.
I especially love when romance is an integral part of the plot and shows themes in a meaningful way. PS. I don't shy away from a good dose of smut.
Here are some of my all-time favorite books that I love dearly:
- To Kill a Kingdom
- The Bone Witch
- A Creature of Moonlight
- Eragon
- A Court of Thorns and Roses
- If He Had Been With Me
- Pride & Prejudice
- Wuthering Heights
- Twilight (mainly books 1-3)
- Six More Months of June (not paticularly high up there, but it is something that I recently read and notably enjoyed)
Any and all help is much appreciated! <3

I suggest Throne of Glass. It’s by the same author of A Court of Thorns and Roses.
