I like the andventure and humor of Hitchikers guide to the galaxy series, depth and character building of Dostoyevsky novels, dystopian/utopian fantasies like 1984/BNW, gritty nature of H.S.Thompson and Kerouac..

What books would you recommend that captured you so completely that you couldn't put the book down?
