Hello everyone
I’ve never really been much of a book person, but lately I’ve been wanting to change that and start reading more.
I’m not sure where to begin — any recommendations for someone who’s just getting into reading?
I’m open to any genre, as long as it’s something that can keep me hooked from start to finish!
Thanks in advance 😊

I’d personally start with genres you typically enjoy tv/movies for. Then look into most recommended/best sellers in those genres. They’re popular for a reason.
I see you have this tagged for sci-fi/fantasy. The most recommended for sci fi is going to be either Project Hail Mary or The Martian by Andy Weir. They’re entertaining, page turners.
Honestly, the best way to get into reading is to start with something that actually feels fun, not like a school assignment. Since you mentioned sci-fi/fantasy, here are a few that are super addictive
The Hunger Games – fast, emotional, and really easy to get into.
Legend by Marie Lu – kind of like watching an action movie but better.
Caraval by Stephanie Garber – whimsical and mysterious, feels like stepping into a dream.
The Martian – if you like science mixed with humor, this one’s perfect.
Mistborn – a bit more complex, but the plot and magic system are so worth it.
Also if you don’t like a book, just stop reading it. Seriously, don’t force yourself through it. Every book isn’t for everyone, and that’s completely fine. The whole point is to enjoy the story.
And try to read a little bit every day, even just 10 minutes. It helps your brain get used to it, and before you know it, you’ll actually look forward to reading time.
You need to figure out what appeals to you. Go to your library and look at the shelves, or see if they have Libby and allow you to check out ebooks or audiobooks. Grab 3-5 books that look good and start reading them. Stop if you don’t like them. If you find one particularly good, check to see what other books the author has written.
Library! The library is a place to try out all sorts of things and genres with no cost!
