Suggest me a book that feels like this one specific moment in Children of Ruin by Adrian Tchaikovsky

There is a chapter in Children of Ruin by Adrian Tchaikovsky where one of the characters is infected by an alien life form and the other characters assume that it has killed him. However, after pronouncing him dead, the infected character wakes up all creepy and asking the rest to "go on an adventure". Essentially, the alien has taken him over and the writing in this sequence is creepy and unsettling. If you have any suggestions for a book that evokes this feeling pls let me know.
