As the title states in looking for book recs for my kiddo. We read a lot of the bigger slightly advanced books together still so it’s alright if they’re a bit heavy. Previously her three most enjoyed books have been Last of the Really Great Whangdoodles, Mandy, and Bridge to Terabithia. Magical, slow but interesting, filled with nature and child-centered. I imagine she’ll enjoy HP eventually but they’re a bit scary and advanced for her right now. She likes the Ramona books but definitely would appreciate a bit more fantasy and whimsy I think.

I first started reading the Redwall Abbey series at about that age, and I absolutely loved it. Lots of lovable woodland creatures, wild adventures, songs and puzzles and clues, brave stands against rapscallions and villains, magic swords and ancient castles. One of my favorite series.
