Good, relatively short novel for me and my friend to pick up reading together with?

I used to read a lot when I was younger but haven't for many many years. My friend never rily read. l've just started reading the new hunger games and am back on my reading streak, and we decided we want to find a book to read together and discuss so she can get into reading.
She wants a short one, 350pg hunger games is too long for example. What's a good, relatively short novel that we can try together? It should be a rily enticing story and world, with rily good characters to discuss. Any suggestions? And favorites of yours at match this description?
