I have 4 nephews aged 9-12. I like to buy them books as part of their Christmas present and like to put in a lot of effort into finding an awesome book that they love. Looking for suggestions on books to give. Here are their ages and interests:
9: into sports, has previously really enjoyed The Academy by TZ Layton
10: quiet and shy, likes learning in general. The Rangers Apprentice series was a big hit last year
11: interested in the military and Boy Scouts. Enjoys nonfiction more but has enjoyed graphic novels in the past like Dog Man
12: interested in basketball. Likes his books to be funny. Previously enjoyed the Unteachables by Gordon Korman.

9: The Everything Kids’ Basketball Book, a nonfiction guide to basketball
10: The Last Kids on Earth, by Max Brallier
11: Books from the I Survived series, by Lauren Tarshis
12: The Crossover, by Kwame Alexander
Dragon Hoops is an excellent graphic novel about basketball.
An Immense World: Young Readers Edition by Ed Yong is a great nonfiction book about how animals perceive the world. Beautiful and fascinating for kids!
Gordon Korman has a few books, I know one or 2 related to basketball. Alan Gratz might be good for the 11 & 10 year olds – some current events type fiction/historical fiction. There’s one book about the war in the Middle East & some about WWII
Narnia or The Hobbit.
