Hi everyone!
My dad is in his 70s and wanting to read more. He loves detective novels, specifically Robert Crais novels. I’m looking for similar books by a male author with a man as the main character.
I read the same genre but most of the books I read are by woman or have a female main character who’s in her 20s-30s so not as appealing to my dad.
Thanks in advance 🙂

Maybe the Lincoln Lawyer series!
It’s somewhat of a suspense/thriller but not a detective story.
Stephen King’s **11/22/63**. A man goes back in time in an effort to prevent the assassination of JFK.
King was on a real nostalgia kick when he wrote it, drawing an accurate picture of what life was like back then. It may bring back memories to your dad.
ed mcbain (87th precinct), john sandford (prey), michael connelly (pretty much all of them), lawrence block (scudder), james lee burke, mickey spillane (mike hammer), raymond chandler (marlowe), etc.
The Aurelio Zen series by Michael Dibdin
Not quite the same but the Longmire books by Craig Johnson might work. He’s the sheriff, not a detective, but he still solves crimes, and they’re definitely set up as mysteries.
Michael Connelly – Harry Bosch series,
Ian Rankin – Inspector Rebus series,
John McDonald – Travis McGee series,
Charles Todd – Inspector Rutledge series
