I just finished the Throne of Glass series, and I really enjoyed it and was really invested in the series but the end just fell really flat for me. I’ll try to be vague but might be some spoilers…
After 8 books and everything these characters went through, those that were lost, and the great lengths people went through to save their kingdoms, I felt like should have been moved or impacted by the ending (I do get emotional often while reading) but I didn’t really feel much besides “ok well it’s over now”.
I’m also skeptical to go by some typical recs for loving this series, as I really like a lot of aspects it is not without its annoying aspects to me. Ideally a series would have less spicy scenes (specifically in relation to the later TOG books), and I’m looking for something more mature, and frankly just written better. I think SJM creates really fascinating plot lines but I do not think she’s a good writer.
I’m not necessarily looking for something YA, would probably prefer adult, but I will say a series that did make me feel as emotionally impacted as I was supposed to was the Hunger Games, just in case this helps give an idea of what I mean with the title.
