The Fire Next Time and Ulysses are both two of my favorite books and both have being born into a cycle of violence (Or as Stephen expressed the idea "History is a nightmare from which I am trying to awake")
I think both authors come to the conclusion of love but I'm curious as to if anyone's come up with any other answer.
I'm wondering what other books there are on the curse of being born on the receiving end of history (Either: through these cycles of violence or through other means ala not as an individual born into a nation or group of people but as an individual with their own past or traditions they chose to adopt.) and principally how we might go about resolving that and how we might ultimately awaken.
Fiction or non fiction, i don't really care.

Mary Karr’s memoirs The Liar’s Club and Lit might be of interest
