The title is kind of a mouthful, but I'm looking for a book that explores the complexities of a difficult but loving relationship that is NOT romantic. I'd also prefer that it's a relationship between peers – i.e. siblings, friends, coworkers, etc., not a parent-child relationship.
The relationship doesn't have to be the main plot line of the book, but it should feature heavily. Ideally it would be written from the POV (first or third person is fine) of one or both of the people in the relationship, rather than them being side characters.
I prefer literary fiction and lyrical prose, but it's not a must-have, although the more artistic the prose is, the more likely I am to enjoy it. I am open to speculative elements but not interested in straight sci-fi or fantasy.
Thanks, Reddit!
