I love the idea of apocalypse as a slow, creeping process rather than a big cataclysmic event. The book Random Acts of Senseless Violence got it perfectly – characters slowly experiencing their world sliding into complete dystopia and catastrophe in real time, but being unable to do anything about it. Would love to read something similar (and yes I'm already reading the new lol, chasing that same feeling through good writing is weirdly therapeutic and kind of the point).
