Christmas is coming up as is her birthday and I want to get her some books she may like. I’m not entirely sure what to look for except for the themes she gave me.
Poetic/thoughtful
Dark/gritty
She also said she’s open to any genre but she gave me those four and I would to get her good books, also maybe with a good ending?
Do yall know of any books that could be like that? Please let me know, I want to give her good Christmas or birthday Christmas.
Please and thank you and I hope everyone has a nice day or night😁

Fiction or nonfiction preference? I have recs for both!
Sharp Things and/or Gone Girl by Gillian Flynn for dark/gritty & East of Eden and/or Grapes of Wrath by John Steinbeck, The Wind Up Bird Chronicle or 1Q84 by Haruki Murakami and The Glass Palace by Ghosh come to mind for poetic/thoughtful. Please also be cautious of age here – the poetic/thoughtful fine for over 15/16 but be cautious about the Flynn works!
Piranesi by Susanna Clarke
The Left Hand of Darkness by Ursula Le Guin
A Breath of Life by Clarice Lispector
JAR OF HEARTS
omg maybe “the song of achilles” by madeline miller? super poetic writing style, definitely has dark parts, and it’s the kind of book that stays with you for a while after.
