    Short Version:

    I read:

    Mindset by Carol Dweck 8/10
No More Mr Nice Guy 7/10

    Reading next: Four Thousand Weeks

Seeking: a book that will help me unlock / regain my boisterous, competitive nature. I feel like I’ve lost my loud, energetic nature over the last few years and I really want it back. I used to be really energetic, boisterous, loud and extraverted and I want that back.

    Long version:

So I recently started my MBA and I’ve been learning a heap!

Prior to starting the program, I read Mindset by Carol Dweck. Despite being a growth-mindset person already, I still found the book really helpful in informing my understanding of how others think.

I recently listened to the audiobook for No More Mr Nice Guy because I noticed I was exhibiting reduced competitiveness, lower energy and as a result, dissatisfaction. I found this book helpful in understanding some of my behaviour patterns, which I was able to work on, and in other parts, it reaffirmed the correctness of certain decisions I’ve made.

Following on from this, I’m next picking up Four Thousand Weeks. And after that it’ll be maybe The Lean Startup or similar act-now-before-perfection to apply on myself. I used to have a boisterous, competitive nature. I feel like I’ve lost my loud, energetic nature over the last few years and I really want it back. I feel like losing that is what is limiting me from taking rapid, strong actions on things I want to do.

What would you suggest I read?

(I’ll eventually a post here listing the books that the MBA profs actually recommend reading or ones that I know for a fact align with the content and purpose of the MBA.)

    1. Sounds like you’ve got great self-awareness already. I’d recommend The War of Art by Steven Pressfield it’s less about hype and more about breaking resistance, which naturally brings back that drive.
