My child can read, but it’s still slow and choppy, what worked for your family?

My son can read now, but it’s still slow and uneven. He pauses at every few words and forgets what he read. We’ve been practicing with Fly Guy and Henry and Mudge books, which he likes, but I’d love to see him read more smoothly.

What kind of reading book or tool helped your child move from sounding out words to reading fluently? Did you focus more on repetition, short stories, or reading together out loud?
