I’m looking for a book to give my fiance for Christmas.
We both read the entire Dungeon Crawler Carl series this year and loved it. He is very sad the next book won’t be released until next year.
He also loves classic Stephen King (The Shining, 11/22/63 (this is his all time favorite), The Stand, Salems Lot, etc). Harry Potter is very nostalgic to him. Generally stays away from fantasy but likes horror and mystery.
I love reading as well but sometimes struggle with gifting books that I’m interested in versus ones that he may be interested in.

*Annihilation* by Jeff VanderMeer sounds like a good one for him.
Try Joe Hill. He’s Stephen King’s son and has quite a few books out.
Christopher Moore. Start with A Dirty Job or The Lust Lizard of Melancholy Cove
The Uninteresting and Completely Unadventurous Tales of Fred the Vampire Accountant by Drew Hayes
I’ve read all of Stephen King’s stuff, so would like to recommend Thomas Olde Heuvelt – I’ve read Hex, Echo and Oracle and they were all excellent. Also The Fisherman, by John Langan. For LitRPG, the one I always recommend is the Noobtown series by Ryan Rimmel, because it makes me snort (puma check!) laugh on the regular.
Is Dungeon Crawler Carl like a fantasy book? Worth reading?
John Scalzi. Absolutely loved Starter Villain and The Kaiju Preservation Society.
