It’s complete and utter nonsense that’s often incoherent.
But it’s all that intentionally, and it’s awesome.

It’s just a fun read. Don’t take it seriously and enjoy the ride.

I found it very disappointing to read after being a huge fan of the original radio series, which my parents had on CD.
But I am definitely in the minority. It’s an enormously popular book, loved by many, and all the most quotable bits from the radio show are still in the book.

Fun book and a thrilling read.

So clever, and so so odd at times!!
I have the whole series in one large tome, but I can never get past *So Long, and Thanks for All the Fish* because my longing to travel through space always gets to me and then these books make me depressed. Anyone else??

Just from the short prologue I was absolutely hooked.
And yes, it definitely made me laugh. Still does.

When I was ten or twelve, my dad urged me to read that book. I ignored him, because, of course, he was just my dumb old dad, and what did he know. But he repeated his recommendation enough to wear me down, and of course I absolutely loved it. It’s still one of my favorite books, and I think that Adams is one of the funniest writers in English. (And also, maybe ten-year-old me was wrong about my dad, who introduced me to several of my favorite writers.)
Other good choices for funny are P.G. Wodehouse, Christopher Moore, Terry Pratchett, and Carl Hiassen.

Huge following, but I couldn’t get into it at all.

Stephen Fry reads the audiobook and he is great.

I don’t like absurdist nonsense. So it’s not for me. I just felt like I could hear the author giggling to himself as he wrote it, saying “I’m sO rAnDoM.”

It’s great if you like British humor and absurdity, which I do. Think Monty Python but sci-fi.
