I'm looking to dive into the world of occult mysteries and ancient magic, but I'm not sure where to start. The only thing I've read similar to this is the Necronomicon.
I'm chasing that specific vibe of dark, cosmic mystery and the pursuit of forbidden knowledge. My top references are the world of Bloodborne or the atmosphere in the Darkest Dungeon intro cinematic (Can't post links)
The catch is, it can't be truly scary or horrifying. I get spooked easily! I'm more interested in the intriguing mystery than the pure terror. The stakes can be high but it can also be more of a grounded story.
