Hear me out – I think Kiley Reid’s books have truly some of the smartest, funniest, LOL dialogue, specifically Come and Get It. I get that the slow moving plot wasn’t for everyone but I simply will never understand how the book isn’t more highly rated for the characters and dialogue alone.

P. G. Wodehouse’s novels are great. *Leave It To Psmith* was the first that I read, and it wasn’t a bad place to start.

Allie Brosh’s “Hyperbole and a Half” touches on some deep, serious topics (e.g.: mental health), but is written in such a hilarious manner! Not every story is serious and almost all are laugh out loud funny. When I’m going through a tough time it’s hard for me to read certain genres because I’m already very anxious, and sometimes focus to read at all, but I am always able to read her work!

Christopher Moore has so many hilarious books. “Lamb”, and the series “A Dirty Job” + “Secondhand Souls” are especially good.
Simon Rich writes absurdly funny, and a bit surreal, stuff. “The Last Girlfriend on Earth”, “What in god’s name”, and “glory days” are some of my favorites.
I recently discovered John Scalzi, and have been loving his humor. “Starter Villain”, “Redshirts”, and “the Kaiju Preservation Society” are great.

Have you read *Moby Dick*? I find it hilarious. I suspect many don’t because they are condition to treat ‘classics’ with a severity commensurate to an English degree…
Another book you might like, as both humor and dark fantasy meet in it, is *The Once and Future King*, by T. H. White. If you haven’t yet read it, you are in for a real treat!
