Just read most of Silence Of Girls. I loved the concept of the book, and I loved a lot of the lines, in general really liked how it was written, but I felt like it was too… I don't know, it felt like it glossed a lot of the more interesting parts for me. Like it wasn't developed enough. The book was good, but I wanted to be more emotionally affected. (And certain lines really delivered on that promise for the record, but I mean more as a story)
It made it a very easy read but it also left me wanting more in a way! Especially because of how much I loved the concept. (And I will probably end up reading the sequels, but for now I want to check out some other stuff)
Still, I am very interested in the antiquity time period and the extreme misogyny that women had to deal with then, told from the perspective of a woman. Especially with the light fantasy elements greek myth retellings have.
Not necessary asking for something more horrible – just something with slightly more detail/more realistic and immersive. A world and protagonist that feels a little more in depth.
Protagonist doesn't have to be a slave or anything, in fact I'd love a protagonist with more agency, though not necessarily a requirement.
I'm interested in that ancient Greece or roman empire time period, though those countries aren't required.
Only interested in fiction. Apologies if this request is too vauge.
