Social media and quick light reads are rotting my brain. My speaking and reading skills have plummeted and I feel less…cultured? PLEASE recommend your favorite books that helped you grow. I’m talking anything, well written classics, newer books where someone shares their life story, give it all to me. (No self help books please! Not shaming them, just not exactly what I’m looking for)

Demon Copperhead, The signature of all things, born a crime by Trevor Noah
Demon Haunted World – Carl Sagan
helped me tackle some misconceptions I had about my own life and direction. It was written decades ago, but a lot of the issues from then, are still relevant today
My own blood by Ashley Bristowe is non-fiction and quite humbling. It’s told more like a story so it’s not annoying like most non fiction (sorry non-fiction lovers, there’s this tone that many non-fiction books have that just annoys me 😅)
Other fiction books that I’ve loved and have made me think are:
– Tender is the flesh by augustina bazterrica (TW this is a pretty effed up book but it is GOOD)
– to be taught, if fortunate by Becky Chambers
– Babel by R.F Kuang
– The marrow thieves by Cherie Dimaline
