My Grandma is still sharp as a whip and a voracious reader. She churns through books faster than anyone in our family and the local librarian can’t keep up with her.

She loves Downtown Abby, The Thornbirds, and The Cazalet Chronicles. She doesn’t mind romance as a theme or subplot, but she doesn’t really care for romance books – she’s in it for the scandals. Regency and historical dramas are a big plus.

Since she is so well-read, I’m looking for high-quality, new releases in the Family Drama subgenre and I would greatly appreciate if anyone has any suggestions.

    1. I don’t know where you live but Dilly Court is a big name in the 65+ lady circles in the UK.

Has she read the Spoils of Time trilogy by Penny Vincenzi? Noce and long! But I really enjoyed this multi-generational story.

    3. omg get her the house of trelawney if she hasn’t read it yet!! all about an aristocratic british family’s downfall with tons of scandals and family secrets. super thornbirds vibes but came out in 2020.

    4. If your grandmother en s interested in cosy mystery than maybe The Her Majesty The Queen Investigates series by S.J. Bennett. In these novels the late Queen Elisabeth solves crime. They have a certain miss Marple vibe.

Maybe the All Creatures Great and Small series of books? Small town vet in Yorkshire who has a lot of family drama inbetween his vet appointments. The scenarios are always adventures and the family dramas are lol

    6. I think she’d really like the Neapolitan Quartet by Elena Ferrante if those books haven’t crossed her radar yet.
