Can anyone recommend me any books about grief? No self help books please. I want to read a book about a regular person trying to deal with grief. It's fine if it's super dark, real and gross, or a maybe funny, or a little magical, or extremely sad… Anything goes. Last year around this time someone very dear to me refused help from a nurse, and passed away, and I heard the news while I was in psychosis. Writing this to say – it doesn't matter what kind of loss the main character is trying to deal with, I just want to read about anything, because this was crazy, and yeah, lol. Thank you!

The Madness of Grief is a beautiful memoir by Rev Richard Coles. It’s about his experience with grief before and after the death of his husband from alcoholism. I read it while dealing with severe alcoholism in a loved one.

It’s incredibly moving but also funny and brings out all the joy as well as sadness. I found it very relatable and strangely comforting.
