I have been reading for years now, and my husband has shown interest in reading but was never serious about it until now. I want to start him off small and work his way to bigger books. He loves movies like Star Wars, Dunkirk, The Lord of the Rings, Westerns, and The Chronicles of Narnia. His favorite trope/plot archetype is 'Based on a true story.' I asked him what types of recs he would like. He answered, Action & adventure, Crime & mystery, Biography & memoir, Horror & supernatural, and Science Fiction. He would not like recs with Christian Fiction, Social Science, Romance, and Romance fantasy ( My fav genre). He likes podcasts, so I think he would like audiobooks as well. He is a gamer and an IT technician if that info helps. I have got him to watch some of my TV shows, which he has been Hot and cold with. Shows like Game of Thrones, he "Just couldn't get into". But he has shown great interest in Dexter and Hannibal. He has read manga and watches anime, so graphic novel recs are also welcome. I know him, and I really think he enjoys this as a hobby, but he just needs the right introduction.

The dungeon crawler Carl series by Matt Dinniman! It’s a sci-fi litRPG. It’s not only a fun read but the audio book version is a production!
Into Thin Air by Jon Krakauer because it’s so well-written anyone could get into it.
Similarly, All Creatures Great and Small is just a highly readable book.
You could have him read The Greatest Estate Developer on Webtoon. It is excellent
Stephen Hunter Bob Lee Swagger series,
