Was wanting to see if there were any good books about people living out of their car/van whether by choice (such as van life) or due to hardship….. I'm a huge van life fan and also fan of things like Into the Wild so I thought there might be some decent books out there that show people living in that way, whether it's the main part of the plot or not.

oooh I’m interested in this too!
I don’t know any books but there’s a great movie on it, called Nomadland. It’s a mix of fiction with documentary. Really good.
Not exactly fiction but an enjoyable read (feels almost fiction)- Blue Highways by William Least Heat Moon. A man pulls up all the stakes in his life after a divorce and converts a van into a literal mobile home. He follows the old highways in the US to mainly small, dying towns. He writes about the people he meets and little snippets of history. Written in the early 1980s.
This is a middle grade selection but such an incredible story. Wrong Way Summer by Heidi Lang.
The Lady in the Van, Alan Bennett. Here is the full text of the original (nonfiction) essay to the stage play and film [london review of books ](https://www.lrb.co.uk/the-paper/v11/n20/alan-bennett/the-lady-in-the-van)
