Open Throat by Henry Hoke fits the title brief, but I haven’t read upon wings of change so I can’t compare

      Free with a library card?

Remarkably Bright Creatures by Shelby Van Pelt. Only one of the main characters is a sentient animal – Marcellus, a great Pacific octopus. If you do audiobooks, the narration is fantastic.

if you’re looking for some horror, pearl by josh malerman is an interesting read!! not exactly narrated by the pig, but definitely the main character

    4. **The Art of Racing in the Rain** by Garth Stein

Check your library for free books.

Amazon prime isn’t really free because it’s a paid membership.

    5. Sadly, I haven’t a clue about Amazon Prime. Hope you have luck and an interest in these!

      * Breed to Come, by Andre Norton
      * The Heavenly Horse From the Outermost West, by Mary Stanton
      * Piper at the Gate (sequel to THHFtOW), by Mary Stanton
      * Watership Down, by Richard Adams
      * Jonathan Livingston Seagull, by Richard Bach …. stares … stares harder … he did a series of books about Ferrets…
      * City, by Clifford D. Simak

    6. Ishmael by Daniel Quinn has been one of my favorite 25 novels since I was 17 and am now almost 50. I’ve reread it at least 4-5x and it literally changed how I looked at so many things about our understanding of history, religion, anthropology etc despite being a fictional book. I couldn’t recommend anything higher!
