I'm looking for stories that feel like an epic adventure but are based on real times and places, bonus points if it's a setting that you don't see often in fiction. Good examples of this for me are Gentlemen of the Road by Michael Chabon and Sea of Poppies by Amitav Ghosh. Thanks!
