Hey all!
I (34M) have gone through bouts as an avid reader but always seem to hit a wall once i hit a book that fails to keep my interest. I’ve learned that I enjoy books that are (mostly) grounded in reality. Nothing too wildly fantastical/sci-fi, but most other genres are open for business. I have listed below some books/authors i’ve enjoyed (and not enjoyed) over the years to give you a jumping-off point
In highschool –
Chuck Palahniuk
Stephen King
Hunter Thompson
House of Leaves
1984 was a little too…futuristic(?) for my taste
As an adult (in the last year or so) –
100 Years of Solitude (10/10)
Catch 22
Kurt Vonnegut
Razorblade Tears
Kitchen Confidential (not fiction, but still loved)
& i just finished Lonesome Dove which i also 10/10 loved. So much that i watched the tv series immediately after.
Was recommended The Crucible series which i started but is definitely not sticking lol
Thank you in advance!

Catcher in the Rye
One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest
East of Eden
John Irving’s novels: The World According to Garp, The Cider House Rules, A Prayer for Owen Meany
Based on Lonesome Dove, I am thinking sweeping epics like Michener’s Hawaii or Alaska. East of Eden falls in this category as well. You also might like The Pillars of the Earth by Ken Follett.
If you read just one book on this list, read One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest.
