Before phones and everything else took over, I actually enjoyed reading a few books—sci-fi books like I Am Number Four. I would read the whole trilogy in a single day. I miss getting immersed in a physical book and even getting my eyes strained. But then movies became much more accessible and cheaper than books (at least where I live), so I stopped considering books as an option.

I love sci-fi, especially steampunk, cyberpunk, biopunk, or apocalyptic genres, but watching movies in those genres often disappoints me. Then I remembered that reading books and letting my imagination direct the scene is what really sets books apart from films. Any recommendations?

I’ve searched other posts and most of them recommend The Hunger Games, The Maze Runner, and Divergent, which don’t really pique my interest, probably because of the political subplots.

I love audiobooks (from Audible & Libby, which is free) that I can listen to on long walks. The key is to preview a sample the narrator to be sure you like the voice &

Two first books I recommend are:

      1. Project Hail Mary. It’s really fun and hang in there to chapter 4 to start to truly enjoy it.

      2. Educated. It’s a real autobiography with the full gamut of crazy to amazing human experience. I have recommended to many people and thus far, I’ve only received high praise for the suggestion.
