Hi! I recently finished Adam Silvera's "The survivor wants to die at the end" and now I'm hungry for more gay romances where one of the characters has mental health issues, namely BPD, depression, anxiety, suicidality, or even neurodivergency like autism…anything really. I want a book that makes me feel heard and loved despite being broken, something that's (bitter)sweet and cute despite it tackling heavy subjects, if that makes sense.

Augusten Burroughs. You Better Not Cry is a Christmas book, so it’s a good one to start off this time of year
If you’re up for graphic novels, Heartstopper is just what you’re looking for. Adorable romance with a relationship that deepens as one of them becomes more aware of the other’s self harm, eating disorder, and OCD.
I’d definitely check out more Adam Silvera books, especially History Is All You Left Me. You might also like Icarus by K. Ancrum, The Music of What Happens by Bill Konigsberg, or And They Lived by Steven Salvatore
Winter’s orbit by Everina Maxwell (one of the protagonists deals with >!trauma!<)
Adrienne Wilder has a book called The Absence of Light. One MC is autistic. Also, Contemporary Colors. Nickey James has a series called Trials of Fear. Each book deals with a different mental illness. She also did a book called Love Me Whole which deals with DID.
