I'll try to TLDR this. Basically I just got done playing "Dispatch." [If you like visual novel type games, it's a good one.] I noticed that in a 10 hour gametime, they were able to get me attached so much to these characters in a way that some games that take over 50 can't do. Without getting into a huge introspection, I just want to chase that joy of an ensemble cast I felt like I've been enjoying or apart of, with tons of emotional investments.
Let me try to list what I like, but don't all necessarily have to be involved.
*Scifi/Medieval – I prefer stories that have combat to some degree, but I don't want to get bogged down in the politics per se. I'm less worried about the world as a whole and more involved with the characters I'll be following.
*Love – There are some things I like to have in my books that usually aren't at the forefront. I love romantic characters I'm rooting for.
*Redemption Arc – I -love- a good underdog story, or someone who wants to fundamentally change who they've been taught to be, or historically been.
*Humorous – Whether it's a character, or situations. The only thing i like more than emotional payoff from character invesment, is to laugh out loud at my books. I would like the book to take it's plot seriously, but most forms of comedy are very welcome.
Ensemble Cast – I'm not saying everyone needs plot armor, but one of my favorite feelings is when heroes who have been out and about come together like old friends from time to time. Feels almost like hanging out and having fun moreso than solving world problems.
I know this is a bit ambiguous of a list, but thank you for helping me! I am excited to get back to my library tomorrow with some suggestions in mind.
