It’s me. Hi.
My dad passed away very unexpectedly last week and now that I am back home and not putting on a brave face for my mom, I’m really struggling. I have tried to pick up a book and read but my brain is having a tough time staying focused and not just replaying the images and sounds from the hospital.
So…. I’m looking for something that is easy to get into, not heavy or emotional at all. Maybe like a cozy or comedic mystery? Or a fantasy that doesn’t require a lot of brain power to sort through the characters and worlds? I’m not opposed to NF, as long as it reads like fiction. Please, nothing related to grief or books to help cope with loss. I have a therapist and will work through this in time, but right now I need a little escapism and maybe a half hearted chuckle.

Sorry you’re going through that. If you want something light, try The House in the Cerulean Sea or Finlay Donovan Is Killing It. Both are easy, fun, low-effort reads. Go at your own pace.
So sorry for your loss. “What you are looking for is in the library” is a sweet story that helped me through a hard time.
Agatha Christie’s short memoir of her time in Syria with her husband’s archeology team, *Come, Tell Me How You Lived*. Very light read with gentle humor and a sense of being taken away from your daily life.
My condolences to you, I was my dad’s girl and even though it’s been years since he’s been gone I remember how difficult it was.
