I'm looking for some non-fiction suggestions for an 11-year old girl.
She's getting frustrated by how little she's learning in school this year, her teacher this year seems a bit disinterested. I did speak to him at our parent-teacher meeting but I didn't get much satisfaction, he's nearing retirement and just doesn't seem to have much of a spark.
Are there any non-fiction books I can get her? She reads a lot of fiction already. She's a very strong reader, she scored the highest possible mark on our national tests but that was with the teacher she had last year and I'm worried about her losing her love of learning.
Thanks!

Sophie’s World by Jostein Gaarder, presented as a philosophical novel but is more like non fiction.
The Rooftop Beekeeper: A Scrappy Guide to Keeping Urban Honeybees by Megan Paska
It’s interesting, well written, age appropriate, and may spark an interest in agriculture, food production, community organization/advocacy, or urban planning
Animal Vegetable Miracle by Barbara Kingsolver
It’s interesting, age appropriate (a couple of chapters are written by her daughters) and tells the story of her family’s attempt to eat local for an entire year. They visit food producers, farm to table restaurants, desperately try to convince turkeys to breed with each other instead of watering cans and people, try a lot of recipes, and meet a lot of interesting and passionate people.
Books about mythology? I got really into ancient Greek and Egyptian mythology and history around that age
