Hi, I'm currently responsible for picking the next book for my book club. We've been trying to stick to short stories, preferably under 200 pages. I'm looking for classics that would be discussed in college classrooms in non-Western cultures. We've realized that we've been pretty exclusively stuck in Western/Russian literature, and would very much like to widen our horizons! Any suggestions for non-Western, discussion-provoking short stories?

Malgudi Days by RK Narayan. Set in 1940s India in an imaginary town of Malgudi, slice of life and characters from the time. As non western as you can get.
