Please recommend my one book for next year! I don’t read often anymore and I want to make sure it’s a good one. Here’s a few things I like:
-
Books: Jane Eyre, Old Man and the Sea, To Kill a Mockingbird, Of Mice and Men, Mexican Gothic
-
Movies and Shows: House on Haunted Hill
(I like that it follows many people’s stories) -
I like well-written books that have lots of character development, or that give me something to think about while reading, or that make me feel like I’ve learned something or grown.
-
Happier/Upbeat vibes could be good too. I haven’t ever gotten into those much, but I would like to. Darker books are ok since that’s what I’ve been drawn to, but if I found the right positive-toned book I’d be happy!
-
I want a stand alone book – not a series.
Thank you in advance!!!

Anything with struggle for survival would intrigue me. Like immigrating, chronic illness, escape from abuse, poverty, natural disasters, supernatural entities, etc. as the main plot line.
