I’ve noticed there has been a lot of Romantasy, contemporary/billionaire romance and domestics thrillers. While these genres are perfectly fine, I do wish there was a more variety getting published.
Like how about more Science fiction romance set in space? Or spy thriller romance. And not just romance as well.
What happened to all the Middle Grade and YA books that used to be popular?
I would like something like a Science Fantasy romance.

those kick ass adventure books with animal protagonists like Varjak Paw, Spy Dog, Warrior Cats, Seekers, and so on. Maybe they’re still doing them but I don’t see as many now so I think it was a mid 2000s publishing trend.
(Heavy recommend for Varjak Paw btw if you’re after some decently light reading)
I enjoy historical fiction and the machinations of royalty or the aristocracy are intriguing but I’d like to read more books about the lower classes.
I’m reading Towers in the Mist by Elizabeth Goudge is just about a family of a priest and their daily lives. I actually adore the banality but poignant beauty of their lives and relationships.
