I picked up Emma Southon’s “A Rome of One’s Own: The Forgotten Women of the Roman Empire” and I’m really fascinated by the subject matter. The writing style was a bit too casual for my taste and I struggled with the seriousness of it sometimes. It was good as a beginning step for casual history reading but now I’d really love some other recommendations that are a little more “academic”(?) but still an enjoyable and narrative read
