I came across this sub literally today since I am trying to find good book recommendations. I’m getting back into reading and would like to start with books I can finish within a week or so just to ease into it. Some genres I like are Fantasy/Crime/Thriller if that narrows things down. 🙂

“The Last Murder at the End of the World” by Stuart Turton- I finished it in two days i think.
Short stay in hell
Watchmaker’s Daughter by CJ Archer is a unique magic system in Victorian England. It explores the economy/politics of different craft guilds, but because it’s intertwined with the magic that’s a lot less dry than it sounds. It also blends Wild West cowboys taking their mindset to upper crust noble England.
Even shorter (139 pages) is Penric’s Demon by Lois McMaster Bujold, but there are a bunch of novellas in the series. These are set in a world with a deeper, more complete mythology that’s explored in depth in a few longer novels (The Curse of Chalion for one), but are an episodic approach focused on one(ish) character.
Not sure of page count but I read both of these in 1 sitting:
My Sister the Serial Killer by Oyinkan Braithwaite
This Is How You Lose the Time War by Amal El-Mohtar and Max Gladstone
This Is How You Lose The Time War. Just fascinating! Just finished. Will be a book I read annually.
The Last Unicorn by Peter S. Beagle
