I am looking for multigenerational historical fiction (or possibly non-fiction if it reads like a story, like how The Devil in the White City does). It can be any time period and geography, but I especially appreciate the opportunity to learn about actual historical events as I read the story (like in Green Island below), as opposed to it just being a story that happens to be set in the past.
Examples I’ve recently read include:
Green Island by Shawna Yang Ryan
The Covenant of Water by Abraham Verghese
The Mountains Sing by Nguyễn Phan Quế Mai
Dust Child by Nguyễn Phan Quế Mai
Homegoing by Yaa Gyasi
The Green Bone Saga trilogy by Fonda Lee (this isn’t historical fiction at all, but I think the general idea of being multigenerational is a good example, and I enjoyed the story telling, world building, and character development a lot).
Thanks in advance!
