Books that capture the vibe of old films/musicals? (Not Hollywood itself)

Hi all! I’ve been in a fiction slump recently and reading a lot of non-fiction; which as much as I love, is just starting to really bum me out due to the subject matter often being very heavy. So now I need help finding something light!

I find that I’m drawn to old Hollywood during the winter months (think White Christmas, Singin’ in the Rain, tap dancing, etc.) and I’m really interested in finding some books that might capture the vibe of those old movies. Not so much capturing what /Hollywood/ was like, but capturing the atmosphere of the movies and musicals from that time.

I’d love anything that evokes the wholesomeness and whimsy of those movies. I’d love for them to be maybe set during that time period, but I’m open to anything. My only stipulation is that it isn’t so contemporary that things like texting and social media start to appear in the world.
