I’m looking for a book that scratches a specific itch I have right now. I can’t seemed to find something that matches it.
I want to read something that feels magical and ancient, a lone wanderer on a quest. I’m thinking like a whole story about Gandalf on a quest by himself.
I did some google searches but couldn’t really find what I’m feeling, so I had an LLM write a small sample for me.
This is basically the feel I’m looking for:
The wind came down from the high teeth of the Grey Mountains, cold and thin, as though it had forgotten the warmth of any hearth it once knew. Upon that wind rode a lone figure, cloaked in weather-stained wool the color of old stone. His horse—small, sturdy, and sure of hoof—picked its way along a narrow trail that clung to the mountainside like a frayed thread upon a giant’s cloak.
For many days the Wanderer had passed beneath no roof save the broad heavens. Long watch-fires had burned on the peaks in ages past, but now only their blackened circles remained, half-buried in snow or moss. And though the land was empty of men, he felt often that unseen eyes followed him: the patient gaze of the mountains themselves, older than any kingdom now fallen to ruins.
