Maybe we need to move past the idea that there’s any biological or genetic limitation to “belonging” to a country.

My guy should’ve taken a DNA test at some point, rather than depend on the word of his mother about his father whom he never really met, especially for what seemed to become such a major facet of his identity.
And I don’t really get why he made it such a major facet of his identity, seeing as if it was his absent father who was supposedly “part Cherokee”, it’s not like he would’ve been exposed to Native American culture, like, at all.
On second thought, maybe he shouldn’t’ve taken a DNA test. Even if he had Cherokee DNA, he’d still hardly have a claim to wear it so proudly as an identity.

My family lore said our great grandfather on my
father’s side was Oglala Sioux. Then Ancestry.com showed that was complete nonsense.

A persons words and writings should be appreciated for their value, regardless of the authors genetic makeup or race.

Well, hell. Harlen Big Bear still rocks though.

It’s sad that this is controversial in 2025.
