We're a group of women from different countries reading in English, mostly novels and short stories, at a rather high level of English. But it seems to me we've been on a short story/serious track lately and I'm frustrated (and the last couple of things were downright depressing). Suggest me a novel with a compelling, page-turner story line that is a little on the brighter , up beat side but not schmaltzy or fantasy. Thanks!!
