I haven't read a book in a good few years, but I want to get back into reading.

I've realised recently that I really love sci-fi horror, especially cosmic/eldritch horror. Can anyone give me suggestions of some books (one offs or series) that have this element?

I struggle to maintain focus for long periods, so preferably the horror elements would be fairly obvious (i.e. not super cerebral in nature), to help keep me engaged while I rebuild my reading muscles. I'm hoping for something similar to Bloodborne or Dead Space (two of my favourite games ito story).

P.S. I know Bloodborne isn't sci-fi, but it's my all time favourite, and I love how the horror aspect is done in the game.

    1. Have you tried visual novels ? There’s one called The Song of Saya that I think it’s just what you are looking for, it’s not that long, probably around 8 hrs max.

I feel like you would really enjoy The Southern Reach trilogy but would not enjoy actually reading it as it’s a slow burn. Check it out, maybe watch the movie Annihilation which is based on the first book to get into it

The Library at Mount Char should be a good fit. It’s more dark fantasy, than outright horror, but it definitely deals with some dark subject matter. It’s a great ride though with eldritch undertones. Never really lets up and constantly surprises.
